Community-based living is something that we take to heart, perhaps because we are located in the "Heart of the Highlands." Here, we believe in our people and in taking care or our environment. Here, you'll find gently rolling hills, sheltered coast lines and Saint Francis Xavier University, the top-ranked university in Canada.
We are proud to offer a wide variety of entertainment and recreational activities including theatre, concerts, and art and crafts events. In our district, nature remains as it should be - pristine. Indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities abound with a wide selection of hiking, biking and cross-country skiing trails, as well as miles of beautiful beeches, exceptional boating facilities, and several pituresque18-hole golf courses. Our area also enjoys a diverse population.
Our regional facility, St. Martha's Regional Hospital, is a 97-bed regional health-care facility built in 1989. It offers a range of primary care services as well as specialties including Pathology, ENT, Plastics, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Pediatrics and Ophthalmology. Diagnostic imaging services include Ultrasound, CT and MRI. The Emergency Room is an accredited trauma center complimented by an air ambulance service.
Recognized for our 'collegiality', GASHA provides health-care professionals and workers the opportunity to balance professional growth and development with an unmatched, easy lifestyle. We invite you to join us, as we unite excellence and innovation in health service delivery, education and promotion.
