The Cumberland Health Authority (CHA) has jurisdiction for the provision of health care in this scenic and friendly area of Nova Scotia. Five health-care sites spread across a large geographical area serve the needs of approximately 33,000 citizens as well as residents from south-eastern New Brunswick. The CHA operates All Saints Springhill Hospital in Springhill, Bayview Memorial Health Centre in Advocate Harbour, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan near Amherst, North Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Pugwash and South Cumberland Community Care Centre in Parrsboro. Each of our health-care facilities offers a unique blend of services focusing on our goal of healthy communities for a healthy future.
The District's services range from acute to long-term care and include public health, addiction, mental health and primary health-care programs. A total staff complement of nearly 700 health professionals and support staff provide quality care to patients. The District has a medical staff of approximately 75 physicians in family, specialty/consulting and locum practices. The CHA's corporate offices are located in the county seat of Amherst, a town of approximately 10,000 residents.
